Today the first paper has been uploaded to the site. The paper illustrates a study on the Saint Venant problem, a classic of Continuum Mechanics, in which an alternative solution method is proposed, based on the average displacements of the cross-sections. The work was carried out during my attendance at the PhD Course in Structural Engineering at University of Pisa, ensuing from the tutoring activity within the Course in Structural Mechanics run by Professor F. Cafarella. The study is supposed to be quite interesting from a didactic point of view, basically for better understanding the kinematics of the Saint Venant cylinder. I would like to thank the Department of Structural Engeneering crew at that time: Luca Nardini, Aurelio Braconi, Giovanni Buratti and Giuseppe Zurlo, for the patience in listening to my explanations about the work, and for the precious advice provided. I also would like to thank my PhD tutor Professor Mauro Sassu for the support and cooperation, and definitely Professors S. LigarĂ² and F. Cafarella for the important revisions performed on the study. Eventually, I would like to remark that any suggestion or observation on the subject from the readers will be very welcome.
